Registered Nurse (IMC/PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma


Position Details

  • Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks
  • Total Beds on Unit: 24
  • Average Daily Census: 24
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live more than 75 miles from facility)
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 5 days allowed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Oklahoma
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Telemetry experience
  • One year or more of total travel nursing experience
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification
  • EKG Course or Telemetry Test
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State-issued ID
  • Utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address dated within last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list checks updated monthly
  • Education Verification: Highest level of education verified by third party (diploma/transcript required)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
  • Physical Exam: Statement of good health within 1 year, signed by Physician, PA, NP, or APRN
  • Immunizations & Health Screenings:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Annual TB questionnaire
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: Completed vaccine series, positive titer, or annual declination
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or medical exemption approved by facility
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Valid within 10 years; Tdap mandatory for certain units
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required annually for all new starts (medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation; declinations not accepted)
    • COVID-19 Vaccination: Strongly preferred; declinations accepted with agency form
  • Fit Testing: N95 mask fit test required annually, completed onsite on first day
  • References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
  • Employment History: Resume covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days; 10-year work history verification including international positions
  • Skills Checklist: Must be current within 1 year and updated annually, aligned with competency exams

Competency Exams & Training

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (annual, 100% passing score)
  • Color Blind Testing (within 60 days prior to start)
  • Unit-specific Competency Exam (annual, minimum 80% passing score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual, minimum 90% passing score)
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) covering safety, patient rights, ethics, abuse, etc. (annual, minimum 80% passing score)
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (if applicable, annual, minimum 80% passing score)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills) mandatory for all RNs
  • EPIC training required if no EPIC experience within last 6 months (scheduled prior to assignment)
  • Fit Test completed onsite on first day (N95 mask)
  • Completion of facility policy acknowledgments including:
    • Health Code of Ethical Business Conduct
    • Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy
    • Information Access Agreement
    • Oklahoma Offender Registration Act
    • Oklahoma Responsibilities and Rights (updated every 2 years)
  • Fingerprinting and state-specific screening clearance required prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be able to float within scope to meet unit and sister facility needs
  • No local candidates accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from facility
  • No block scheduling accommodations available
  • Return to Office (RTO) days limited to 5 or fewer during contract

Unit is ran by anesthesia, you will have to get anesthesia trays,,,set there area up while they complain about what you didn't do.
