Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Schedule: Weekdays with some weekends; floating within facility and sister facilities as needed
  • Patient Population: Adults and Pediatrics (including some NICU experience required)
  • Types of Cases: Critical Care and General Care
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Local Candidates: Considered within 75-100 mile radius
  • Pending State License: Accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: 72-80 hours per pay period

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in West Virginia
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Current certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support)
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • Experience working with Neonate patients

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation occurs every other Monday, lasting two days (Thursday and Friday)
  • Includes Cerner Infusion Management training
  • Must complete required inservice training modules (approx. 4 hours) prior to start
  • Pass/fail testing not required for Respiratory Therapists (specific to nursing)

Compliance & Health Requirements

  • Background Check: 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • Drug Screen: Within 30 days of start, includes standard panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • Physical Exam: Completed within 1 year of start, must confirm good health and no physical limitations
  • Fit Mask Testing: Annual N95 fit testing required (3M N95 1860 Small or Regular, Aura 9205)
  • Immunizations:
    • Tdap vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity required (vaccines or positive titers)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity documentation required
    • Varicella immunity required (vaccines or positive titers)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not mandatory; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted

Additional Requirements

  • Must submit Social Security Card (legible) and other credentialing documents before start
  • References: One reference required from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within the last year
  • Annual skills checklist for specialty required
  • Floating to sister facilities may be required
  • Schedule changes (RTO) must be submitted two weeks in advance and approved
