Job Opportunity: Stepdown Neuro Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location
- Seattle, Washington
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, with flexible scheduling
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2-week pay period
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Travelers may float within scope to meet facility needs; travelers float first
- Local candidates accepted
- Return-to-Office Restrictions: No more than 6 days
Patient Population
- Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Epilepsy patients
- Conditions include traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, spinal cord injury, strokes, seizures, epilepsy, changes in mental status, and telemetry monitoring

Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Washington State
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certification in IV start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency)
- Mask fit test within 12 months (3M 1860R, 1860S, or 1870+ masks)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Annual TB questionnaire (except Micro Lab)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines after 1968 and after 12 months of age; declination allowed with signed forms
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or completed vaccine series with boosters as needed; declination allowed with signed forms
- Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines; declination allowed with signed forms
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (9/29 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes
Special Requirements
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (test required prior to start)
- Skills in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and tracheostomy care mandatory
- Preferred experience in Level 1 trauma care
Additional Notes
- Orientation modules must be completed before start date (approx. 2-3 hours)
- Orientation testing is pass/fail; failure results in cancellation
- Candidates must complete required facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start
- Candidates with multi-state licenses working in Washington must complete suicide prevention training and demographic attestations as applicable
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity neuro stepdown unit within a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital, providing care to complex neurological patients with a focus on telemetry and dysrhythmia management.
