Occupational Therapist - Home Health (Travel/Contract)

Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day shift (8:00 AM - 5:30 PM), no weekends
  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week with approximately 30 patient visits weekly
  • Average caseload: 5-7 patients per day (geriatric population)
  • Territory coverage: up to 60-mile radius including parts of Walla Walla, Columbia, and Umatilla counties
  • Documentation: All charting must be completed by 9:00 AM the following morning
  • Dress code: Scrubs of any color; jeans are not allowed
  • Device provided: iPad
  • Cell phone use: Not permitted during work
  • Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in Washington
  • Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) electronic medical records

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Background checks within 90 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County searches for last 7 years
    • FACIS Level 1
    • Nationwide Sex Offender Registry
    • Motor Vehicle Records/Driver’s Record
    • Education verification (highest degree related to profession)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
  • Fingerprinting required for candidates who have not lived in Washington for the past 3 years (completed on-site)
  • State-specific criminal history and employability status checks as applicable
  • Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
  • Work history verification for 7 years, with attempts documented if unverifiable
  • Two professional references within 2 years of start

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within the last 12 months (not required annually)
  • Fit mask test (N95 accepted)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required for flu season 2025-26
  • COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Proof of current auto insurance required due to driving responsibilities
  • Completion of Acceptable Use Policy prior to start
  • Agency background attestation required before onboarding
  • Compliance liaison will manage background attestation and documentation submission

This position is ideal for experienced Occupational Therapists with home health expertise who are comfortable working in a travel contract role within a defined multi-county territory in Washington state.
