ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Worcester, MA
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Cardiac Surgery ICU
- Vascular Surgery
- Cardiac Medicine
- Advanced Heart Failure
- Mechanical Circulatory Support (IABP, Impella, ECMO, durable VAD)
- Float requirement: May be required to float to other adult ICUs as needed
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2.5 years ICU experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- Mechanical circulatory support experience
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Skills
- Experience with Epic electronic health record
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Every other weekend and holiday required
- Scheduling based on unit needs; no block schedules available
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background & Verification
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
- Education verification of highest completed education
- Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Required immunizations or valid declinations (flu, COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, TDAP)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start date
Testing & Competencies
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 6 months of start and annually thereafter
- Pass/fail telemetry exam required on first day of orientation (minimum 80% score)
Additional Notes
- Valid state-issued ID required
- Two professional references within the last three years required
- Employment application must document 7 years of employment history and explain gaps over 30 days
- Must comply with facility-specific declination policies for vaccines and immunizations
- COVID-19 vaccination or facility-specific declination required by January 25, 2024
