ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Job Overview
- Float pool position requiring ICU RNs to float across multiple units including TCUs, ICUs, Emergency Department (ED), and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night) on a 4-week schedule cycle; shifts may alternate between day and night depending on facility needs.
- Must be able to float to various departments and facilities within the system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
- ICU experience within the last year
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts, either day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) or night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
- Typically 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week).
- Rotating schedule every 4 weeks, alternating between day and night shifts as needed.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment.
- Current and updated resume covering the last 7 years, with explanations for any gaps over 30 days.
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.
- Verification of 7 years of work history (in-house or third-party).
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and education verification.
- Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
- Pass/fail Telemetry and Medication competency exams required on first day of orientation.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with a passing score of 80% or higher, completed within one year prior to start.
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) with passing scores of 80% or higher, updated annually.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required). Onsite fit testing available as last resort.
- Negative TB testing: Two negative TB tests required (one within 1 year, one within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if positive TB history. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
- Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, renewed every 2 years.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-April).
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.
Important Notes
- Must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at time of offer; late submissions will not be considered.
- Candidates must confirm experience with critical care devices and specialties during submission for faster processing.
- Pass/fail Telemetry exam required for nurses working in critical care and telemetry units.
- Candidates must review and initial facility-specific policies including COVID-19 preparedness, parking, uniform, and cybersecurity awareness prior to start.
- Candidates must complete required learning modules before or on Day 1 of orientation depending on start day.
- This is a float pool role, not unit-based; flexibility and adaptability to multiple units is essential.
