Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 08:00 AM – 04:30 PM

Job Description

• Perform ultrasound studies including Abdomen, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Basic Vascular, and small parts.
• May perform interventional procedures.
• Obtain two points of patient identification and ensure proper patient preparation.
• Review patient charts for relevant clinical history, test results, and lab data to aid accurate exam interpretation.
• Explain exams to patients considering their physical and emotional needs while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Deliver patient care within scope of license and training.
• Use universal precautions and patient-specific safety techniques.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment; report malfunctions.
• Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics as needed.
• Maintain effective communication and teamwork with department and hospital personnel.
• Complete paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions for each exam.
• Prepare equipment, rooms, and supplies; stock supplies as needed.
• Stay current on imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment; participate in continuing education.
• Transport and transfer patients following departmental guidelines.
• Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure during exams.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist within the last year.
• ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
