Physical Therapy Assistant

Location: Cheraw, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)

Job Summary

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for administering physical therapy treatment plans designed to alleviate pain, restore function, prevent disabilities, and promote overall fitness and health of patients. Key responsibilities include:

• Implementing treatments tailored to patient learning styles and therapeutic needs.
• Communicating goals with patients and/or family members, considering psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Providing therapeutic interventions for a variety of physical and functional limitations related to musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and developmental impairments.
• Documenting patient progress with measurable and functional goals.
• Maintaining patient records, completing progress notes, charges, and discharge summaries within regulatory and departmental guidelines.
• Assisting in schedule adjustments to accommodate caseload changes.
• Collaborating regularly with Physical Therapists to discuss patient progress and set goals.
• Contributing to departmental performance through professional development, competency training, clinical instruction, in-service coordination, program leadership, mentoring, and performance improvement.
• Demonstrating continued professional growth by setting goals and participating in education offerings, including maintaining required continuing education units (CEUs).
• Communicating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment, progress, complications, and recommendations.
• Utilizing appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in South Carolina
• Minimum of 2 years of Physical Therapy Assistant experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Certification in CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
• Certification from NBSTSA (National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
