Job Opportunity: RN Neuro/Trauma ICU - Nights

Location: Evansville, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Description

  • Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Focus on Adult Trauma Population, Post Surgical Management for General Surgery, Vascular Surgery (e.g., Carotid), and Neuro Surgery
  • Patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:3
  • 8 beds in the unit

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • ICU experience within the last year

Onboarding & Testing Requirements

  • Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, max 2 attempts)
  • Specialty Exam in Neuro/Trauma ICU (minimum 80% or national benchmark, max 2 attempts)
  • Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.; minimum 80%)
  • EKG Exam (minimum 80%, max 2 attempts)
  • Skills Checklist (clinical, updated annually)
  • Color Vision Test
  • Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
  • Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history (no declinations)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations)
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start (specific mask types required)
  • TB Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray if positive; annual TB questionnaire
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter

Documentation & Background Checks

  • Professional resume/profile
  • Two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of start; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
  • EPLS check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service >90 days
  • Employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
  • Education verification within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service >90 days
  • Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and match address requirements)
  • Badge photo (headshot with white or blue background, no filters)

Additional Notes

  • Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and extensions
