Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Registered Nurse (RN) for Telemetry Unit, Night shifts and Every Other Weekend (EOW), 36 hours per week
• Unit: 32-bed Orthopedic/Neuro Med/Surg unit with medical overflow patients
• Patient Population: Scheduled elective orthopedic and neuro/surgical patients, fractures, neuro patients, and other medical overflow patients
• Floating: Required to float to applicable units as needed
• Shift Rotation:

  • Night positions do not rotate
  • Day rotators may be rotated between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a shifts with low rotation frequency
• Clinician to Patient Ratio:

  • Day and evening shifts: 1:4 (may go up to 1:5)
  • Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6
• Charting System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips (Tele strips)
• Must be able to float to other units as requested
• Fit testing for N95 respirator within 1 year of start date, updated annually
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required
• Passing medication and dysrhythmia exams (80% minimum) within 1 year

Health and Background Requirements

• Documentation of immunizations or immunity for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
• TB test within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity strongly preferred
• Tdap vaccination preferred within 10 years
• Physician health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Criminal background check, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required within specified timeframes
• Education verification of highest degree achieved
• Submission of 2 professional references (minimum 1 supervisor-level) within 4 years
• Completion of skills checklist within 1 year
• Submission of resume including 7 years of work experience with city and state

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Night shifts are fixed; day shifts may rotate among specified time blocks.
• Floating to other units is mandatory when requested.
