Job Opportunity: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Location: Nantucket, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 33 weeks

Job Details

• Work Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM
• Role: Generalist with blood bank and limited microbiology experience
• Housing: Shared housing provided at no cost

Required Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree level with ASCP MLT certification or equivalent registration (AMT, HEW)
• Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; default to standard MLT requirements (assumed minimum 1-2 years)

Required Credentials & Compliance

• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA preferred; Red Cross accepted)
• Licenses:

  • Valid professional license with primary source verification (MA Conditional Licenses NOT accepted)
• Training:

  • FEMA ICS 100 Training (must be completed before onboarding)
• Health Requirements:

  • MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 – April 30) with no exemptions
  • TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 1 year
  • Color vision test within 1 year
  • Optional but preferred: Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity, Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start
  • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start
  • Social Security Number trace
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually
• Other Requirements:

  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
  • Two recent professional references (minimum one supervisor or above)

  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit testing is required
