Job Opportunity: RN PACU

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: RN PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 50% day/night rotation with up to 2 weekend shifts per month
  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 3+ years RN experience
    • Minimum 1+ year Travel PACU experience
    • Minimum 1+ year Academic Medical Center experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (at least 1 year travel PACU experience)

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • BLS Certification: Required for onboarding (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; preference for AHA)
  • Professional Nursing License: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start date; MA Conditional Licenses not accepted
  • Fit Test: N95 fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no religious exemptions)
  • MGB Medication Exam: 80% passing score within 365 days
  • Immunizations and Health Requirements:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or proof of immunity
    • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30) with no exemptions
    • TB test (skin or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
    • Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred
    • Tdap vaccine preferred (within 10 years)
    • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days, updated if >6 month break
  • Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation: Required if fit test is required

Background and Screening Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date, updated if >6 month break
  • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date, updated if >6 month break
  • Social Security Number trace for past 7 years
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
  • Education verification of highest degree achieved

Submission Requirements

  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
  • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above) in the relevant skillset
  • Skills checklist
  • Candidate submission coversheet

Additional Notes

  • No onsite fit testing available; must be completed prior to start
  • No religious or medical exemptions for flu vaccine or fit testing
  • Positive TB test requires negative chest x-ray documentation
  • Assignment is within an academic medical center environment
