Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Providence, Rhode Island
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Schedule: Evenings only, 36 hours per week (3 PM - 3 AM) — no variations allowed
Unit: Emergency Room
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC proficiency required


Job Description

Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses to provide patient-centered nursing care in accordance with ANA Standards. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Active Rhode Island RN license
  • Experience: Emergency Medicine experience required (years not explicitly stated; assume minimum experience consistent with specialty)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Other Requirements:
    • Proficiency with EPIC EMR system
    • Ability to assist with patient lifting, transfers, and transport via wheelchair or stretcher
    • English proficiency required
    • COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations required (including proof of COVID vaccine series or bivalent booster; medical exemptions reviewed prior to start)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • Additional Health Requirements:
    • Immunizations or positive titers for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination), Tdap, Influenza
    • TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA within the last year)
    • Fit testing for N95 masks within one year prior to start
  • Background Checks and Compliance:
    • Federal, county, national, and statewide background checks including OIG, NSO, GSA/SAM searches within 6 months of start
    • Fingerprinting in Rhode Island within 30 days of start
    • Employment verification for last 5 years
    • Confidentiality agreement signed before start
  • Testing and Competency:
    • Skills checklist, specialty competency exam, basic EKG exam, pharmacology exam, and core competencies testing required prior to or upon start
  • Education:
    • BSN diploma or transcripts required

Additional Notes

  • No contract extensions available
  • Must work scheduled evening shift hours only (3 PM - 3 AM)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
