Job Opportunity: MRI Technician (Travel)

Location: Cooperstown, New York
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Description

• Equipment & Environment:

  • Scanners: Philips 3T and 1.5T (5.7 software)
  • Scanners covered by traveler: 1
  • Setting: Inpatient and Outpatient
  • Average scans per shift: 7–11
  • PACS/RIS systems: Change Healthcare Radiology Solutions (McKesson) / Epic RIS

• Exam Types & Skill Expectations:

  • Most common studies: Neuro, MSK, Abdomen, Breast, MRA/MRV, General MRI
  • Advanced studies required (except Cardiac MRI, which traveler will not perform)
  • Contrast administration: Required
  • IV starts: Not required
  • Pediatric imaging: Required

• Workflow & Autonomy:

  • Radiologist coverage: On-site and remote reading
  • Patient screening: MRI Technologist responsible
  • Patient transport: Handled by hospital transport team

• Schedule & Coverage:

  • Call shifts:

    • 6:00 am – 3:00 pm (Saturday and Sunday)
    • 4–5 weekends during the 13-week assignment
  • Holidays: Required if they fall during call week

• Support Staff:

  • Sedation cases supported by MRI Tech and Nurse
  • No cross-coverage for CT or X-ray if volume is low

Required Qualifications

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • ARRT (MR) certification required (ARRT (R) not accepted)
  • BLS certification required
  • New York state license: Not required

• Additional Requirements:

  • MMR, Fit Test, Hepatitis B, Influenza Vaccine, TB Test, Varicella, Annual TB Questionnaire, Physical/Health Statement
  • Driver's License/State ID
  • Professional references, criminal background check, resume, webchecks, sex offender registry checks, education and employment verification
  • Drug screen
  • Core competencies, unit exam, and skills checklist

Experience

• No explicit years of experience stated; assume standard competency for MRI Technologist role.
• No prior travel experience required.
