Job Opportunity: RN Inpatient Psych

Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Schedule:

  • 2 shifts of 8 hours (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
  • 2 shifts of 12 hours (11:00 AM - 11:30 PM)
  • Total 40 hours per week
• Holidays and every other weekend required
• Scheduled weekends off require coverage or prior approval
• Blocked scheduling must be pre-approved
• Training provided for charge nurse responsibilities
• Possible floating to a similar inpatient addiction rehab unit
• Uniform: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Valid RN license in New York

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of psychiatric nursing experience
• Psychiatric nursing experience within the last year

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• Arnot Naloxone Train the Trainer Course

Professional Requirements

• Complete background check within 30 days of start, including county and national criminal searches
• Employment verification and references:

  • 1 supervisor reference from last 12 months
  • 1 supervisor or peer reference from last 3 years
• Skills checklist for the assigned unit, updated annually
• Core competency exam with minimum 80% score
• Completion of various facility-specific forms and trainings (code of conduct, sexual harassment acknowledgement, self-study packet, etc.)
• Valid US driver’s license or state ID (not expired)
• Color headshot photo (professional style)

Additional Notes

• All employment and education history must be documented with no gaps for the last 7 years
• Address history for the last 28 years must be completed without gaps for certain background checks
• Floating to related units may be required
• Holidays and weekend work are expected as part of the schedule

This position is suitable for experienced psychiatric RNs comfortable with inpatient behavioral health settings and flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays.
