Registered Nurse - Telemetry I

Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Job Description

• Must have 2+ years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Telemetry RN experience.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required.
• Must be willing to float to other units as needed.
• No Return to Office (RTO) allowed during the first two weeks of assignment; maximum 7 days RTO allowed overall.
• No block scheduling requests accepted.
• Solid black scrubs required.
• Nursing degree must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum of 2 years of Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Cardiac PCU.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Comfortable running cardiac drips.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Fit test for approved N95 masks within one year of start, updated annually.
• Pre-employment physical within one year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• Immunizations or titers required:

  • MMR (2 vaccines or titer with boosters if negative)
  • Hepatitis B (3-series vaccine or titer with boosters if negative; signed declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or titer with boosters if negative)
  • 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with no declinations accepted
• Annual TB questionnaire (facility-specific form) completed, signed, and dated.
• Influenza vaccine required October through April (medical/religious exemptions require approval and documentation).
• COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended (medical/religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case).

Testing and Competency

• Unit-specific competency exam, skills checklist, EKG/Telemetry exam, and core competencies (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission standards) must be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually.
• Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search plus additional checks) within 90 days of start.
• OIG, EPLS, and education verifications completed within 90 days of start.
• Social Security card or number verification required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates with more than 7 days of requested time off will be rejected.
• Travelers continuously on assignment without breaks are not required to update physicals or background checks annually.
