Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Respiratory Care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and/or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Respiratory Care)
- First-time travelers accepted: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope as needed
- Locals accepted: No
- Pending License accepted: Yes
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Facility Type: Children's Acute Care Hospital, Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital
- Patient Population: Pediatric, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care, Emergency Department
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA or AAP
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course, Crisis Prevention Institute)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including within the last year
- At least 2 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy in the NICU (RRT-NICU)
- Experience working with Neonate and Pediatric patients
- NICU and/or PICU experience
- Experience in Pediatric critical care
- Experience in Emergency Department (ED) settings
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma facility
- Pediatric patient care experience
- BLS certification
Additional Requirements
- Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required (Pediatric focus)
- Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements (e.g., HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code) must be completed prior to start
- References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
- Employment application must be completed and uploaded
Work Environment
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Any or facility-specific T-shirts/jackets allowed
- Facility has approximately 400 staffed beds
- Pediatric acute care and trauma setting
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates must be prepared to work every other weekend
- Floating to other units within scope may be required
- Pending licenses are accepted, allowing for some flexibility in licensure timing
