Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Position Overview

• Specialty: Respiratory Care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and/or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Respiratory Care)
• First-time travelers accepted: Yes
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: May float within scope as needed
• Locals accepted: No
• Pending License accepted: Yes
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Facility Type: Children's Acute Care Hospital, Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital
• Patient Population: Pediatric, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care, Emergency Department

Required Certifications

• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA or AAP
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course, Crisis Prevention Institute)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including within the last year
• At least 2 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy in the NICU (RRT-NICU)
• Experience working with Neonate and Pediatric patients
• NICU and/or PICU experience
• Experience in Pediatric critical care
• Experience in Emergency Department (ED) settings
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma facility
• Pediatric patient care experience
• BLS certification

Additional Requirements

• Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required (Pediatric focus)
• Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements (e.g., HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code) must be completed prior to start
• References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
• Employment application must be completed and uploaded

Work Environment

• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Any or facility-specific T-shirts/jackets allowed
• Facility has approximately 400 staffed beds
• Pediatric acute care and trauma setting

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
• Candidates must be prepared to work every other weekend
• Floating to other units within scope may be required
• Pending licenses are accepted, allowing for some flexibility in licensure timing
