Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience for a travel contract position. The role primarily supports Labor & Delivery (L&D), NICU, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) settings with floating responsibilities in PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care.
Schedule
- 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (4x12's)
- Every other weekend required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience
- Minimum 2 years NICU experience
- Children's hospital experience within the last 3 years or Level 1 adult facility experience (acceptable alternative)
- PICU experience
- Some Pediatric Acute Care experience
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted
- No prior travel experience required
Unit Information
- Primary units: NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics
- Assignment to home unit based on facility needs; may change as needed
Important Notes
- Indiana licensed RNs are restricted from working at this facility effective 11/30/2024, with exceptions for Perioperative/OR and certain allied health roles. This does not affect Respiratory Therapists.
- Written confirmation required from the traveler acknowledging the every other weekend schedule before submission.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Indiana Respiratory Therapist license verification within 30 days of start
- Background checks including 7-year work/living history, criminal, sex offender registry, and education verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirator models required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- TB testing within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) with chest x-ray if positive history
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency
- Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Completion of mandatory facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (21 modules for RRTs)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
- Current employment application with explanation of any gaps over 30 days in the last 7 years
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
Additional Information
- Candidates must complete facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements prior to start
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with limitations
- Proof of valid driver’s license or passport required
- HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgments required
