Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Oncology/Hematology RN Charge Nurse to lead daily operations on a specialized blood disorders and cancer unit. Responsibilities include balancing patient care with leadership duties such as staffing, patient flow management, complex treatment administration (chemotherapy, blood transfusions, CAR T-cell therapy), mentoring staff, ensuring safety, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Schedule includes 3x12 hour night shifts, with float and weekend rotation required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 3 years oncology experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certificate required)
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Minimum 3 years charge nurse experience
- Administration of chemotherapy
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bone marrow transplant (BMT)
- Outpatient oncology
- Administration of immunotherapy agents (interferons, interleukins)
- Management of cytotoxic therapy and side effects
- Stem cell therapies and graft-related complications
- Care for various cancers including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and solid tumors
- Handling and disposal of cytotoxic agents
- IV therapy, central line and port care
- Management of oncologic emergencies (e.g., tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, sepsis)
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Psychosocial and hospice care
- Wound care, tracheostomy care, catheter management, and other specialized nursing skills
Additional Requirements
- Must provide government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including social security trace, education verification, and criminal history
- Compliance with health and safety documentation including physical exam, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella), TB screening, drug testing, and COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemptions
- Annual competencies and safety acknowledgements required
- Fit testing for respirator use (N95 mask) required annually
- Must complete facility-specific forms and questionnaires prior to start

- First-time travel nurses are welcome if experience requirements are met.
- Scrubs are not provided.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
