Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Pain Management / Interventional Radiology

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Pain Management / Interventional Radiology
  • Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (No block scheduling)
  • Call Requirements:
    • On-call rotation Monday-Friday, 12 AM – 8 AM
    • Weekends and holidays on-call 24 hours, rotated among all nurses
    • Occasional weekend day shift (8 AM – 4:30 PM) required
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays or weekends; no RTO day before or after a holiday
  • Floating: Mandatory float facility; nurses will float within Radiology and Pain departments
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Additional: Staff required to wear lead aprons

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Pain Management
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, annually required
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or signed declination
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 1)
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing required within 12 months of start
  • Facility-specific forms and rules of behavior must be completed

  • This is a mandatory float facility; flexibility to work in Radiology and Pain departments is required
  • On-call schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays with rotation among nursing staff
  • No holiday time off allowed; strict RTO policies apply around holidays and weekends

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS, who are comfortable working in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with mandatory floating and on-call responsibilities.
