Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: 3/12-hour night shifts
• May be called off or placed on call once per pay period with a 60-minute call-back requirement
• No first-time travelers accepted; must have successful travel history
• Must be proficient in EPIC electronic health record system
• Must specify experience with cardiac drips; required to have experience with at least 3 of the following 5 drips:

  • Amiodarone
  • Cardizem
  • Dopamine
  • Dobutamine
  • Nitro
• Strong and successful travel experience required with 0-1 prior cancellations
• Patient population includes all areas except Labor & Delivery, Emergency Department, Special Procedures
• High Medicare and geriatric population with multiple comorbidities
• Strong Medical-Surgical/Telemetry skills needed
• Experience with Diabetes Mellitus, COPD, Cardiovascular Disease, Hepatic, Oncology, Sepsis protocol, and Alcohol withdrawal protocol
• Vascular experience preferred
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
• Weekend coverage every other weekend
• Scrubs color: navy or white
• Unit requires HARD STOP (strict requirements)
• Experience in a teaching hospital with residents highly preferred
• Hard stop: No first-time travelers unless they have 10 years of experience in a teaching hospital with residents

Required Certifications and Skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• IV Start
• Telemetry

Preferred Certifications and Skills

• ONS (Oncology Nursing Society certification)
• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Vascular and Oncology experience

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience (specialty experience)
• Prior travel experience required (no first-time travelers accepted)
• Proficiency in EPIC charting system
• Must have experience with cardiac drips as specified above

Compliance and Background Requirements

• Criminal background check required within 30 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, all counties/states lived/worked, national sex offender search, and international searches if applicable)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA, confirming good physical and mental health
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
• Fit testing required prior to start for specific N95 masks (no onsite testing; facial hair must be trimmed to pass)
• Immunization and health document requirements including:

  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • Evidence of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
• Harassment prevention training certificate required
• Medication and unit-specific competency exams required
• Pass/fail EKG rhythm interpretation exam onsite during orientation (2 attempts allowed; remediation required if first attempt fails)
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements must be signed prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, compliance, policies, hand hygiene, social media, attendance, etc.)

Additional Information

• Must complete required NetLearning modules prior to start (4-10 hours depending on position)
• Returning travelers with a break of 30+ days must retake annual mandatory modules and EKG exam if over 1 year since last completion
• Performance evaluations and skills checklists required if worked with the agency for more than 1 year
• References: Minimum of 2 positive professional references required
• Weekend coverage every other weekend
