Job Opportunity: Clinical Lab Scientist

Location: Burlingame, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory procedures on biological specimens.
  • Deliver accurate and timely lab results to support diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and disease prevention.
  • Conduct a variety of basic and complex laboratory tasks including phlebotomy, specimen processing, quality control, quality assurance, and waived, moderate, or high complexity testing as per CLIA standards.
  • Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (7:30 PM - 3:00 AM), every other weekend.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license in California.
  • Minimum 2 years of Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related science field.

Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only.
  • Other certifications may be required depending on position specifics; verify as needed.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
  • Annual updates for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
  • Education verification required (highest level achieved).
  • Sex offender search within 90 days of start.
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (not required for Clinical Lab Scientists).
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination.
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30).
  • Respiratory safety clearance prior to start (not required for Clinical Lab Scientists).

Documentation and Verification

  • Must provide 7 years of verifiable work history with no gaps.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
  • Professional license verification required within 30 days of start.
  • Photo for badge (passport-style photo) required.
  • Completion and signing of facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, code of conduct, and regulatory orientations prior to start.
  • References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client).
