Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts
Workdays: Weekdays and some weekends, including rotating holidays
Float Requirement: Must be willing to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 3 patients
Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Proficient in IV start and telemetry skills
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Licenses & Certifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted)
Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam)

Competencies & Exams

Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
Unit-specific competency exams
Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply)

Background & Compliance Requirements

7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed prior to start)
Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
High school diploma or GED verification
Employment application and skills checklist required
Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership role)

Health & Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start, or TB questionnaire
Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer or vaccine series)
Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Facility Policies & Additional Requirements

Must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policy
Annual acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies
Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start

Notes

Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory
Floating to other units of similar or lower acuity is required
Candidates must be prepared for night shift schedule and rotating holidays
All certifications must be current and verifiable prior to start
