Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
- Call: One night per week and one weekend per month
- Call hours: 5:30 PM - 6:30 AM (Mon-Fri), 24 hours (Sat-Sun)
- Daily caseload: 15-18 patients
- Patient ages: Adolescents to geriatrics
- Work involves general nuclear medicine studies including bones, renals, gastric emptying, GI bleeds, thyroid uptake/scans, parathyroids, VQ perfusions, cardiac and EPT/CT
- Work environment includes 4 rooms plus PET/CT
Job Duties
- Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies
- Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate doses for radiologists
- Administer radiation to patients as part of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience with independent work proficiency
- Experience with nuclear medicine procedures including cardiac, bone scan, brain scan, lung scan, renal flow, thyroid studies, SPECT, myocardial imaging
- Skills in IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, and PACS
- Current Virginia state license or proof of application for Virginia license with an active license from another state
- Certifications: BLS and NMTCB required; ARRT preferred
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required; very experienced first-time travelers may be considered
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); medical or religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation
- Must complete various background checks, verifications, and competency exams as applicable
- Fit test within last 12 months required
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start
- Required health documents including physical exam, TB test, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), and annual TB questionnaire
- Proof of 2 clinical references
- Radiation badge and attestation of prior radiation exposure required
Orientation and Compliance
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, policies, and training modules required prior to start
- Must comply with confidentiality, dress code, infection control, and safety policies
- Required to wear both agency and facility badges at all times during assignment
