Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Shift: Nights
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to meet unit needs
  • Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating
  • Locals: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule)
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • On-call: Not required

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) experience, with experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Licensure

  • Pending licenses are not accepted

Additional Requirements

  • Background check required within 6 months of start
  • Physical exam required within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within last 10 years
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
  • Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions require facility approval
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted

Competency & Testing

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required and must be renewed annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for awareness on specific units; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation required after failures

Scheduling & Policies

  • Call-off policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment allowed; after that, all contracted hours are guaranteed
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Maximum of 2 contracts allowed (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

  • Level III Trauma Center
  • Teaching hospital environment

  • Professional, passport-style photo required for badge (no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons)
  • Multiple facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Orientation typically occurs on Monday, with schedule provided by unit representative
