Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Trauma ICU

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Trauma ICU
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Travel Experience: Unit does not accept first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable

Required Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
  • Primary source online license verification required

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination accepted)
    • Varicella (or documented history)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Background and Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification (highest level) required
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years
  • Completion of skills checklist annually
  • Completion of employment application/resume
  • Photo for badge required

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Current certifications including:
    • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • MAB (Monoclonal Antibody Administration)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this assignment.
  • Fingerprinting and other background checks may be required depending on location.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exams and color blindness testing may be required.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and crisis prevention training may be required as applicable.
