Job Opportunity: Acute Care Float Registered Nurse
Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
This is a non-patient facing Employee Health Registered Nurse role requiring at least 3 years of acute care experience (occupational health experience preferred). The position involves employee health assessments, case management, compliance, and administrative duties related to employee wellness and regulatory programs.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 24-40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct employee health assessments and triage
- Provide preventative health education and wellness promotion
- Manage employee health records and documentation
- Oversee Workers’ Compensation claims and New York State Disability benefits administration
- Manage FMLA/PFL case tracking and renewals
- Coordinate return-to-work programs including light duty assignments
- Facilitate new hire fit-for-duty processes (physicals, drug testing, immunizations)
- Conduct annual health screenings (e.g., PPD, FIT testing)
- Participate in safety and Workers’ Compensation meetings
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Utilize electronic health records and reporting systems for case tracking
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) Certification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- Active RN license with primary source verification prior to start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG screenings required prior to start
- Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider
- Fit mask test within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity verification
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgements
- Required competency exams and pass/fail testing as applicable
- Professional references (2 within last 3 years)
- Skills checklist verification
