Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical/Telemetry)

Location: Bellevue, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per 4-week period, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 48

Unit Overview

• 36-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with emphasis on orthopedic patients.
• Additional surgical specialties: surgical oncology, general surgery, gynecological surgery, oral maxillofacial surgery.
• Telemetry monitoring provided.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors.
• Floating required frequently within scope, including to multiple other units and main campus.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Nebraska.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year.
• One completed travel nursing assignment.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Scheduling & Time Off

• Night shift with 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (Friday and Saturday nights count as weekend shifts).
• Up to two weeks of Request Time Off (RTO) allowed; must be submitted with application.
• Holiday work requirement: must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
• RTO blackout dates: June 11–22, 2026 (due to College World Series).

Uniform & Parking

• Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray with facility logo on back (details provided after confirmation).
• Facility sells gray T-shirts.
• Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking ($3 for 20 hours).

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including multiple county/state/federal checks.
• Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually.
• Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years.
  • Annual TB testing or chest x-ray if history positive.
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if needed).
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination.
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer.
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required).
  • COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years (1 must be most recent employer if not a current traveler).
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
• State-specific registry checks required prior to start.

• Travelers are first to float to meet staffing needs.
• Facility emphasizes care for complex patients.
• This is a nicotine-free environment.
• Pending license holders will be booked approximately six weeks out if license is not in hand at application.
• Eye exam required only for OR staff (not applicable here).

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with telemetry, medical-surgical care, and frequent floating in a fast-paced, urban hospital environment.
