Job Opportunity: Long Term Care CNA / Nurse Assistant
Location: Seward, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (traveler's choice between 13 or 26 weeks)
Shift Options:
- 4x12 hour shifts (48 hours/week), either Day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) or Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Traveler chooses between 4x12 or 3x12 variable shifts
- No mandatory rotation between day and night shifts (except occasional urgent needs)
Job Description
- Provide care in a Long Term Care (LTC) facility with a 1:20 caregiver-to-patient ratio
- Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs
- No on-call responsibilities
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's); preference for availability on all holidays
- Locals not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Guaranteed minimum 60 hours per 2 weeks; traveler may be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid CNA license in Alaska
- Minimum 1 year of Long Term Care experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working in a Long Term Care setting

Vehicle Use
- Facility provides a vehicle for use during assignment (rental or facility-owned)
- Vehicle available 72 hours before contract start and must be returned within 24 hours after contract end
- Only the traveler may operate the vehicle
- Traveler must provide valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, including rental car coverage
- Vehicle use limited to within 30-mile radius and “around town” only; no off-road use
- Vehicle must be returned clean and with a full tank of gas
- Tire chains available at traveler’s expense
- Vehicle must be returned during any time off and reissued upon return
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- E-Verify attestation required
- Education verification (high school or related degree)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum of 2 references covering 6 months of employment in LTC or comparable setting within last 3 years
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness for duty
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months
- Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use (annual)
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
- Must comply with facility float policy; may be required to float to other nearby facilities
- No more than 2 weeks of requested time off (RTO) allowed for 26-week contract; all RTO must be submitted with application and approved before offer or contract signing
- Must complete Alaska background check application and fingerprinting as required by state law
- WA State and Oregon specific background and registry checks apply if working in those states (not applicable here)
