Medical Social Worker - Travel/Contract

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide behavioral health social services including comprehensive client assessments, diagnostic formulation, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and care coordination. Must be flexible with hours and locations within a 35-mile radius, with travel required between sites.

Work Schedule

• Day shift options:

  • 5 days/week, 8 hours/day (10:00 AM – 8:30 PM)
  • 4 days/week, 10 hours/day (10:00 AM – 10:30 PM)
• 40 hours guaranteed per week
• Weekend and float flexibility required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in Massachusetts
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
• Master's degree required
• Ability and willingness to travel to multiple locations within a 35-mile radius daily
• Valid driver’s license and ability to transport as needed

Major Responsibilities

• Conduct initial comprehensive behavioral health assessments including clinical interviews and collateral contacts
• Develop diagnostic formulations and treatment recommendations
• Engage clients in safety and crisis planning; provide crisis intervention and de-escalation
• Assess eligibility for services and medical necessity
• Create treatment plans incorporating client strengths, preferences, and goals
• Make referrals and coordinate care with other service providers
• Document all service delivery and complete required consents and releases in compliance with program standards
• Complete additional outcome tools and assessments as required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and education verification
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
• Immunizations or valid declinations for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
  • Flu seasonal vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis testing: Two PPDs or equivalent within required timeframes; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire if positive
• 2 professional references within 3 years
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

Additional Notes

• Preference given to candidates with no Return to Office (RTO) days; up to 5 days RTO allowed
• Advanced notice will be provided for daily assignment locations
• Flexibility and willingness to float among all community health locations required

This position is ideal for a licensed social worker with behavioral health experience who is adaptable, mobile, and able to work varied day shifts within a regional area.
