Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Schedule & Work Details

• 36/36 schedule (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
• General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Hospital may cancel/call off one shift biweekly without penalty if census decreases
• Additional shifts beyond commitment may be offered as overtime and flexed as needed
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Certifications & Licenses

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) may be required depending on unit
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) required for ER; can be pending at start but highly preferred
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) highly preferred for ER candidates
• State RN license with primary source verification required
• NURSYS verification required
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually

Background & Compliance Checks

• Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed/certified in or working in Tennessee

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility not accepted)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers required or documentation of vaccination/boosters
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Varicella titer required or documentation of vaccination/boosters
• Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)

Facility Specific Requirements

• Photo for badge within 48 hours of signed contract
• Completion of staff info form within 24 hours of signed contract
• Review and compliance with department-specific uniform guidelines, dress code, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement, smoking and tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire
• Respiratory medical clearance form to be completed by candidate and facility
• Review of CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use

Competencies & Exams

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• General competency exam required

Additional Notes

• Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area
• Active participation in clinical education for nursing students is expected in addition to clinical care duties
