Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical) - Travel/Contract
Location: Decatur, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical Surgical RN
- Shift: 4x12 or 3x12 Night shifts (1800-0630)
- Average Daily Census: 35 patients
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical Surgical)
- First-timers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) mandatory; ACLS and PALS may be required based on unit/specialty
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Will float as needed within department scope
- Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
- Licensure: Must have active Illinois RN license or be in application process with ETA to apply
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

- Medication Skills:
- Heparin
- Insulin
- PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia)
- Respiratory Care:
- CPAP/BiPAP
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

- Non-invasive airway management
- Oral suctioning
- Oxygen face masks
- Portable oxygen tank
- Tracheostomy management
- Professional Knowledge:

- Beds: 372 staffed beds
- Scrub Colors: Blue, black, or gray
- Charting System: Cerner
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years (including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Illinois-specific searches (Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, State Police registries) within 30 days prior to start
- Fingerprinting via Illinois Health Care Worker Registry (must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start)
- Education verification (degree/transcript/diploma)
- Primary source verification of certifications and state license (NURSYS for RN)
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Badge photo (color, mid-shoulders up, plain background) due before start
- Signed Code of Conduct and other facility-specific documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Two professional references required
- Skills checklist required for clinical candidates

- Candidates must be prepared to work night shifts and every other weekend.
