Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Certification (prior to assignment)
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Oxygen protocol management
• Non-invasive airway management
• Management of drips
• Peripheral and central line care/management
• Blood product administration
• Isolation precautions and PPE use
• Computerized documentation
• Nurse to patient ratios: 1:3-4
• Rapid response team activation
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience

Certifications & Verifications Required

• BLS (AHA only)
• ACLS (AHA only)
• NIH Stroke Certification (within 1 year of start)
• State nursing license verification (primary source)
• NURSYS verification for RNs
• Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable if needed)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and color blindness test
• Skills checklist (unit specific, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required for non-clinical)
• Fit mask test annually (with approved mask types)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
• Employment application required
• Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background)
• Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry check
• Respiratory fit test waiver process available for failed fit tests (medical or religious reasons only)

Notes

• Flu and COVID exemption forms must be completed if applicable; no facility approval needed if agency accepts
• Background checks must cover all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Drug testing must meet Aya/Lotus standards (9-panel) even if facility requires fewer panels
• Rapid response team participation expected
• Unit-specific certification requirements may apply; verify with unit descriptions if assigned
