Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• 5 West: 40-bed non-specialty med-surg unit
• Patient ages 18+ with medical and telemetry needs
• Conditions include sepsis, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiac disease, COVID-19
• Care involves titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, complex wound care, post-bariatric procedures, high oxygen delivery systems, and end-of-life care

Care Model

• Team-Based Care Delivery Model piloted since January 2025
• Team includes Lead Nurses, bedside RNs, Virtual Nurses, LPNs, CNAs
• Virtual Nurses handle administrative RN tasks remotely (e.g., admission/discharge paperwork, patient education)
• Emphasizes working at top of scope, teamwork, communication, and leadership

Staffing Ratios & Schedule

• Day shift ratio: 1 RN to 8 patients
• Night shift ratio: 1 RN to 9 patients
• Shift options: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week period (Days: Sat/Sun; Nights: Fri night/Sat night)

Requirements

• Start date: December 15 (no return to office)
• Minimum 2 years telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital
• Experience with drips required on all floors
• EPIC charting experience required
• No first-time travelers accepted unless 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
• Must float within scope to various units including Bellevue campus
• BLS certification required
• Facility is 100% nicotine-free
• Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles away)
• Pending licenses accepted but must be in hand before start or booking delayed 6 weeks
• Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray with facility logo (details provided upon confirmation)

• 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 30 days of start (includes nationwide and federal enhanced searches)
• SAM and OIG checks required every 30 days
• Education verification and transcript/diploma required
• State-specific abuse/neglect registry checks required
• Certifications as applicable: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP
• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required
• Competency exams and medication tests as applicable
• Health documents required: physical exam, fit mask test, Tdap, TB testing, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, drug screen, flu vaccine documentation (preferred), COVID vaccine documentation (preferred)
• Annual skills checklist required
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
• Eye exam required if working in OR
