Job Description
Seeking a skilled and patient-focused MRI Technologist for an 8-week travel assignment (contract length interpreted as 14 weeks). This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm (5x8s), with no weekend shifts required. The role involves working with advanced MRI technology in a specialty-focused orthopedic environment, primarily performing cardiac imaging exams for both inpatients and outpatients. Occasional extended hours may be required to accommodate inpatient scans.

- Staffing Ratio (Days): 1:2
- Shift: 8:00am–4:00pm (no rotating shifts)
Required Licenses & Certifications
- New York State Radiologic Technologist License
- ARRT (MR) with "(R)" credential for Advanced MR license
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- IV Certification (must be in hand at start; distinct from venipuncture certification)
Required Skills
- Cardiovascular MRI: MR Cardiac with/without contrast
- Musculoskeletal MRI: Foot, Hand, Hip/Bony Pelvis, Knee, Lower Extremity Long Bones, Shoulder, Sternum, TMJ (with/without contrast), Upper Extremity Long Bones
- Professional Skills: Preparation and administration of contrast media, starting peripheral IVs

- Experience in settings such as Adult Acute Care, Adult ICU, Adult Outpatient, ER/Trauma, Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Outpatient
- Advanced Cardiovascular MRI: MR Cardiac with Stress, MR Aortogram, MR Pulmonary, MR Angio Lower Extremity with Bilateral Runoff
- Abdomen & Pelvis MRI: Abdomen, MRA, MRV, Female Pelvis, MRCP, Male Pelvis
- Chest MRI: Breast, Chest, Myocardium
- Head & Neck MRI: Brain, Cranial Nerves, Face/Soft Tissue Neck, Head MRA/MRV, Neck MRV, Orbits
- Special Imaging Procedures: CINE, Diffusion (non-brain), Gradient Echo, Post-processing (ADC mapping, subtraction), MIP, MPR, Perfusion, Peripheral MRA (Iliac/runoff), Spectroscopy, Spin Echo, Surface Coils, T1/T2 Weighted Imaging
- Spine MRI: Cervical, Lumbar, Sacrum/Coccyx, Spinal Trauma, Thoracic, Thoracic MRA
- Equipment familiarity: PACS, Siemens
- Professional knowledge: Isolation Precautions, Radiation Safety
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MRI technology (highest required years of experience)
- Experience with cardiac exams preferred
- Electronic documentation experience (EPIC) preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- First-time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including multi-level searches (social security, state, nationwide, international if applicable)
- Education verification required (high school/GED minimum for allied travelers unless higher degree held)
- Drug screen (9-panel) required within 1 year of start (not required for subcontractors)
- Various state and federal exclusion list checks within 30 days of start
- Verification of licensure online within 30 days of start and for any breaks in service over 30 days
- Harassment prevention training certificate (New York specific)
- Physical exam and health assessments updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required: TDAP (within 10 years), Negative TB or chest x-ray (within 1 year), Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Fit mask (N95) test required within 1 year prior to start and updated annually
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 1
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Unit-specific competency exams (Relias platform)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing (must score 100%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail, time sensitive, with remediation process)
- Core training parts I, II, III and OSHA mandatory training (updated annually)
- Pediatric EKG competency exam for applicable units (pass/fail, time sensitive)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (color, plain white/light background, specific size and quality requirements)
- Various signed agreements and acknowledgments including privacy, drug-free workplace, intellectual property, quality and safety practices, staff handbook, workplace harassment prevention, and travel policy
- Onboarding and continuing education modules to be completed within 30 days of start and ongoing as required
- Establishment of system username and password prior to orientation
References & Employment History
- Two manager/supervisor references required (charge nurse references generally not accepted unless approved)
- Verification of all current and previous employment within last 7 years
- Complete employment application with 7 years of history
Summary
This is a travel MRI Technologist position in New York requiring a minimum of 2 years MRI experience with cardiac imaging skills, prior travel experience, and multiple certifications/licenses including NYS Radiologic Technologist License and ARRT (MR).
