Position Overview

• Role: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) specializing in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Patient Population: Pediatric and Adult critical care experience required
• Work Setting Experience: Emergency Room (ER), Adult ICU
• Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Magnet/Teaching hospital, Level 1 Trauma center
• Charting System: Epic experience required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years
• First-time travelers NOT accepted (prior travel experience required)
• Prior travel experience: Required (first-timers not accepted)

Schedule & Hours

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (night shift)
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Not required

Certifications Required

• Current State Respiratory Therapist License (Michigan)
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) by American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• CRTT (Certified Respiratory Therapist - Technician)

Respiratory Care Skills & Experience

• Airway Management
• Medication Administration
• Ventilator Management
• Oxygen Therapy
• Suctioning
• Pulmonary Toileting
• Nebulizer Treatments
• BiPAP and CPAP Management

Polysomnography / Sleep Studies Experience

• Oxygen Saturation monitoring

Equipment Experience

• Servo I ventilators
• Hamilton G5 ventilators

Additional Requirements & Information

• Locals accepted; no local radius rule
• Pending licenses NOT accepted
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3 shifts of 12 hours each
• Background checks and verifications required within 30 days of assignment start
• Physical exam required within 12 months of start, including latex sensitivity noted
• Fit mask (OSHA Respirator Form) must be completed at least 1 week prior to start
• Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, TB test or questionnaire, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccination (seasonal), drug screening
• References: 2 previous employer references required
• Resume with 7-year work history required
• Skill inventory and competency exams required

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of pediatric and adult critical care experience. Prior travel experience is mandatory. The position requires night shifts with weekend rotation, multiple certifications, and proficiency with specific ventilator equipment. The facility is a large, Magnet-recognized, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital using Epic for charting. Candidates must meet strict licensing, health, and background verification requirements.
