Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PACU) - Travel/Contract

Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position primarily in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), with some floating to Preoperative (Preop) areas
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends or on-call
  • Shift start times vary between 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM
  • Ambulatory experience highly preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • Ambulatory experience highly preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (PACU)
  • Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume at least entry-level to intermediate RN experience in PACU or ambulatory care settings
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including alias and county searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3 screening, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List Search, and other federal/state checks required and must be updated annually as applicable
  • Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred but not mandatory)
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • TB screening and annual renewal
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov-April)
  • Negative drug test and other health documents as required

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific documents and trainings prior to start, including:
    • Job description review and acknowledgment
    • Standards of Business Conduct
    • Vendor training and Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions as applicable)
    • TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider
    • Respiratory safety clearance (not required for all roles)
  • Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be renewed annually

Work Environment

  • Ambulatory surgery center setting
  • Floating between Preop and PACU units
  • No weekend or on-call shifts
