Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, every other week (EOW)
• Schedule: Option for 4x12 hour shifts
• Float and possible charge nurse duties as needed
• Must work at least one of the following holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Skills required: IV starts, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
• 30-minute lunch break required, no skipped meals
• Alabama RN license required
• Current BLS certification via AHA or ARC required
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Travel experience preferred (prior travel experience not explicitly required)
• Locals considered within a 60-mile radius

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (MedSurg)
• Required Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ year MedSurg experience preferred
• Prior travel experience: Preferred but not required

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Alabama RN License
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred (not mandatory)
• ACLS and PALS may be required based on unit but not required for MedSurg RN

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Official Transcript, Diploma, or 3rd party Education Verification required
• National Certification/Verification prior to start and upon expiration (as applicable)
• Primary source verification of state license prior to start and upon expiration
• NURSYS verification prior to start (as applicable)
• Physical Exam within 12 months of start
• Fit Mask test within 12 months of start (annual expiration required for new contracts)
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within past 12 months (or TB Questionnaire if expired)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines, history of chickenpox, or positive titer
  • Flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
• 10 panel drug screen within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

• Must adhere to facility attendance policies
• Must complete required competency exams as applicable
• Must have completed required orientation and safety manual acknowledgements
• No skipped meals allowed during shifts

This position is ideal for a MedSurg RN with solid clinical skills, flexibility for night shifts and holiday coverage, and preference for those with some travel experience.
