CVICU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in New Brunswick, New Jersey
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays, based on unit needs
- Candidates must float within their skillset; floating may include all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units
- Navy blue scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- CVICU (2 years of experience)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
- Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax
- A-line insertion and management
- Central/PICC line insertion and management
- Continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade and sedation administration
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Chest tube insertion and removal
- BiPAP/CPAP management
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
- Experience with Epic

- Blood product administration
- Central/PICC lines
- Starting IVs
- Continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade and sedation
- Emergency medications
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
- IV insulin protocols
- Chest tube insertion/removal
- BiPAP/CPAP
- Ventilated patient care
- HFNC
- ABGs
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Ventilator management
- Cardiac surgery care, including post-op open heart recovery
- Temporary pacers
- FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
- Dysrhythmia interpretation
- 12-lead EKG
- Chronic/acute renal failure care
- CVVHD/CRRT
- CVA/acute stroke care
- Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
- Lumbar drains
- Multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Infection prevention
- Isolation precautions/PPE
- Phlebotomy
