Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Information

• Critical care skills required including intubation, airway management, and arterial line insertion
• CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) credential not accepted
• Floating within hospital and to a nearby hospital as needed
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
• No on-call required
• First-time travelers accepted

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license issued by the State of Georgia
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Demonstrated critical care skills including intubation, airway management, and arterial line insertion

Additional Required Certifications (if applicable)

• Education verification of related degree required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
• State license verification within 30 days prior to start
• Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, STABLE, or Tech Cert Verification may be required depending on specialty or unit (refer to clinical guidelines)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months of start; if previously positive, additional documentation required
• TB Questionnaire updated annually, required for all candidates
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
• Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• Immunization requirements:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • TDAP highly recommended but not required

Orientation and Onboarding

• Maximum return to office (RTO) time: 7 days
• Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements mandatory to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling

Work Expectations

• Expected to work major holidays if they fall within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
• Floating assignments may include coverage at a nearby hospital within scope of practice

Screening and Verification

• Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval
• Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
• Two clinical references required
• Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months required

Competency Exams (Aya-specific)

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LVNs (not required for subcontractors)
• Color blind testing required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU, Telemetry, and related units; up to 3 attempts allowed before cancellation
