Job Opportunity: Electrophysiology Tech

Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Work area: Cath Lab, specializing in Electrophysiology (EP)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
• No weekends, holidays, or on-call duties
• Typical daily caseload: 8-10 cases per tech
• Floating: May float within scope if needed but will primarily remain in Cath Lab
• No floating to sister facilities
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week

Required Experience & Skills

• Electrophysiology Technician with at least 1 year of experience
• Electrophysiology Technician experience within the last year

Licensure & Certification Requirements

• Must have an active West Virginia state license before starting
• Pending WV license can be submitted but active license required to begin
• Must be registered with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• Valid Driver’s License required
• ACLS (AHA) certification required (no pending certifications allowed)
• BLS (AHA) certification required (no pending certifications allowed)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment; verify with recruiter/unit description

Background & Compliance

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start date
• Must complete SAM, OIG, and Sex Offender searches within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Drug screen within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine, benzodiazepines, methadone, propoxyphene)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and no physical limitations
• Annual fit mask testing required (N95 1860 Small/Regular or Aura 9205) with accommodations available if needed
• Negative TB test within 3 months of start or negative chest X-ray if positive TB history, plus annual TB questionnaire
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Tdap, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination with documentation)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted

Orientation & Training

• Orientation is 2 days (Thursday and Friday) including Cerner Infusion Management training
• Must complete required in-service training modules and pass associated exams prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
• Pass/fail testing required for nursing candidates only (EKG, medication calculation, blood administration)
• Color blindness testing and competency exams required prior to start
• Skills checklist for specialty must be completed annually

Additional Requirements

• One professional reference required from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within the last year
• WV does not consider RCIS certification sufficient for Cath Lab work; must meet licensure and registration requirements as above
• Scrubs and parking provided free of charge for travelers
• Charting system used: Cerner
