Job Description
- Requires experience in open heart procedures and scrub skills.
- Schedule includes alternating days off with 1-2 call days per week; 30-minute response time required when on call.
- Weekend shifts every 3rd or 4th weekend (Friday 4:30 PM to Monday 6:00 AM) and holidays as needed (at least 1 major holiday expected).
- Floating to other units as needed.
- May care for COVID-19 patients.
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance free.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with CVOR experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Work Hours
- Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
- Total 36 hours per week.
On-Call and Weekend Requirements
- On-call with 30-minute response time.
- Weekend coverage every 3rd or 4th weekend.
- Holiday shifts as needed.
Screening and Interview Process
- Clinical screening to determine fit.
- Final decision and interview by the manager.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start; updated annually.
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start (cannot start with results pending).
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 5 years; candidate may start with results pending if proof of submission is provided, but results must be on file within 45 days.
- Pennsylvania FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year; candidate may start with results pending if appointment receipt is on file, but results must be on file within 45 days.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification of highest degree required.
- Two professional references within 3 years required.
- Most recent resume or employment application required.
- Annual skills checklist required.
Certifications and Competencies
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC provider card preferred).
- ACLS certification may be required depending on unit.
- Pass/fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of contract signing (except OR and Home Health).
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke, Tech Cert) may be required depending on unit.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; PPD not accepted. For positive TB, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual questionnaire required.
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) required, or declination with booster.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Vaccines (2 doses) or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal. Exemptions require facility approval.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season; medical or religious exemptions accepted but declinations are not.
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption/declination accepted.
- Respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year and renewed annually.
- Fit testing preferred but not required.
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 1 year (requirement for agency only, not facility).
Facility Policies and Additional Requirements
- Tobacco and fragrance free environment.
- Passport-style photo required for badge.
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Commitment to Health & Wellness, and Non-Employee Affidavit.
- Completion of Learning Management System (LMS) modules on PC/laptop required prior to start; includes new hire orientation and EPIC training.
- Return to work (RTO) maximum 7 days.

Sometimes the schedule can be confusing with rotating shifts and call schedules that don’t align well with your scheduled shifts. But again if there is a major concern they’ll try and work with you on it!
