Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work primarily on a 37-bed Medical Surgical, Surgical, and Oncology unit caring for general medical diagnosis patients.
Specialties include gastrointestinal, urological, gynecological surgeries, orthopedic/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, and surgical patients (e.g., hysterectomies, mastectomies).
Staffing ratio typically 1:5-6 on nights; may flex to 1:8 with LPN support.
Floating to other Med/Surg units approximately once per week based on unit needs.
Must work every other weekend.
Holiday work is required; holiday time off cannot be guaranteed.
Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
Must be willing to work with a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs.
Availability required for the first two weeks of the assignment.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
