Registered Nurse – MS/Tele

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4 shifts of 12 hours each per week, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 48 hours


Job Description

  • Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts and 13 or 26-week contract lengths.
  • Travelers are the first to float; frequent floating required to meet hospital staffing needs.
  • Assignment to units based on experience; may be assigned to a sister campus 16 minutes away.
  • Units include various medical-surgical, telemetry, trauma, oncology, transplant, neuro, cardiac, and observation units.
  • Drip medication administration required on all floors.
  • EPIC electronic charting experience required.
  • First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
  • Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.
  • Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri night/Sat night).
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).
  • Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).
  • Pending license accepted if in hand at time of submission; otherwise, booking delayed by six weeks.
  • Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation).
  • Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Nebraska
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • One completed travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with EPIC electronic charting system
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Current driver's license

Certifications & Licenses

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – strongly preferred
  • Other certifications as applicable per unit (e.g., PALS, NRP)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal history and education verification.
  • Federal and state exclusion lists (SAM, OIG) checks required and updated every 30 days.
  • State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required.
  • Primary source verification of RN license required prior to start.
  • NURSYS verification required.
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually.
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually.
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years.
  • Annual TB screening (PPD or equivalent) or chest x-ray if history positive.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer; boosters required if titers low.
  • Hepatitis B titer required; declination accepted if non-reactive.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer; boosters required if titers low.
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually.
  • Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required.
  • COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemption or declination accepted.
  • Eye exam required only for OR staff (not applicable here).

Additional Information

  • Must submit up to two weeks of requested time off (RTO) with application; additional RTO requests at manager discretion.
  • Two professional references from work within the past 2 years required.
  • Annual skills checklist required.
  • Facility is a teaching hospital with a high level of acuity and complex patient care.
  • Scrubs and branded apparel provided or available for purchase.
  • Parking options available for professionals.
