Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

• Heart & Vascular Unit (49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit) focused on cardiovascular patient care including stable heart and lung transplants, and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs).
• Fast-paced environment offering professional growth in cardiovascular nursing.
• Patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).
• Drip infusions required on all floors.
• EPIC electronic charting experience required.
• Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs, including to multiple other units and potentially a different campus.
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
• Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Shift Details

• Night shift only: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
• Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts.
• Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Nebraska.
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Valid Driver's License.
• Experience with EPIC electronic charting system.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county, statewide, and federal checks.
• SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
• Education verification required.
• State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required.
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• References: 2 work references from the past 2 years (one must be from most recent employer if not a current traveler).

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually.
• Fit test within 1 year, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+ masks).
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:

  • Tdap within last 10 years.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual PPD or equivalent.
  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal titers).
  • Hepatitis B titer required (declination accepted if non-reactive).
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal titers).
• Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually (urine panel including multiple substances).
• Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required.
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemption or declination accepted.

Additional Information

• Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation).
• Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates.
• Up to two weeks of return-to-office (RTO) permitted; requests must be submitted with application.
