Job Opportunity: OB/GYN Registered Nurse

Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)

Job Description

• OB/GYN Registered Nurse with 2+ years of recent experience in the specialty required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• No on-call, weekend, or holiday shifts

Required Certifications

• CPR
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – AHA/AAP required for OB RN
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring) required for OB RN
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA
• NIH Stroke Scale training (minimum 2 hours) required and must be updated annually

Required Assessments & Competencies

• Pass a telemetry assessment (minimum 80% on a 15-question test) on the first day of orientation covering cardiac rhythm interpretation relevant to OB and other units
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Skills checklist required

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New York State with primary source verification prior to start and upon expiration
• NURSYS verification required prior to start

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years; must be complete before starting
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start
• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Review and sign facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement, Orientation Packet, and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security (for Pyxis access)
• Annual Tuberculosis screening questionnaire and negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
• Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties
• Fit mask test within 12 months and updated annually (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or physician-documented history)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine records or declination
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references within 3 years of hire
• Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
• Minimum of 2 years of OB/GYN nursing experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) training and certification
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential

• Candidates within 50 miles are considered local (travel rate adjustments apply but pay details are excluded here)
• Facility does not employ telemetry technicians; nurses are responsible for independent telemetry strip interpretation and cardiac rhythm monitoring for patients under their care
