Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (L&D)
Shift: Rotating shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM / Night: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit: 10-bed unit (5 Labor & Delivery rooms, 5 Postpartum rooms)
Weekend Requirement: Minimum 5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, based on unit needs
Charting System: Epic
Float Requirement: Must float within scope to like units as needed

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Colorado
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including circulator experience for Cesarean sections (C/S)
Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (Electronic Fetal Monitoring - EFM) certification

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in clinical leadership
Desire to mentor other RNs

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

Background Checks:
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado CBI, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions, and others as required within 60 days of start
Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved masks)
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP (within 10 years or declination), Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity, Hepatitis B immunity or declination, Varicella immunity
- COVID vaccine proof or signed declination
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually
- Color blindness testing via Ishihara exam (online testing not accepted)
Competency Exams: Must be current within 1 year and include medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III, OSHA mandatory training
References: Two references from the last two years required; one must be from employment within the last year, from a Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
Employment History: Verification of last 3 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days

Additional Information

On-call is not required
Candidates must be able to provide clear copies of Driver’s License/State ID
Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
Candidates with employment gaps of 15+ days are considered new and must meet full background and compliance requirements

This position offers an urgent need for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who meet the above qualifications and are ready to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a supportive clinical environment.
