Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Position requires working every other weekend and on holidays.
- No call or float requirements.
- Strict 5-day maximum return to office (RTO) policy.
- Use of specialized respiratory equipment including Nitric Oxide therapy, ECMO, bedside bronchoscopies.
- Ventilator experience with Puritan Bennett 840 and 980 models.
- Bipap: Phillips V60.
- Transport ventilators: Pneutron, Newport, and Parapac.
- Scrubs color: Gray.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Louisiana
- Minimum 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation.
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide and sex offender checks.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date).
- Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days.
- Competency exams (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III) required within 12 months of start and updated annually, with minimum passing score of 80%.
- State license verification and professional certification verifications required within 30 days of start.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test (Qgold/Tspot or 2-step skin test) within 3 months of start or documented past positive with chest x-ray and annual questionnaire.
- Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB test results.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 12 months of start
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (declinations accepted with appropriate exemption forms)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted under facility policy. Masking required for unvaccinated personnel.
