Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a large endoscopy department with 19 admit/discharge rooms and 4 procedure rooms.
- Patient population: 30% inpatient, 70% outpatient, including 10% pediatrics.
- Assist with high-level disinfection (HLD) scope reprocessing, room turnover, and intra-procedural physician assistance (general and advanced therapeutic endoscopy).
- Float required; may be assigned to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
- On-call required with a 45-minute response time; approximately 132 hours per month on call.
- Schedule: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), every other weekend required.
- Flexible start times required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Endoscopy Technician within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Licensure & Certifications
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI) or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent.
- Surgical Tech Certification or equivalent allied health certification.
- Medical Assistant Certification or Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit-specific needs (verify with clinical leadership).
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
- Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required.
- State-specific background checks and registries as applicable (Washington state patrol search, OBRA registry for CNAs if applicable).
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination),
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months,
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer,
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer,
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination,
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season,
- COVID vaccination documentation preferred (declinations accepted).
- Fit mask testing required annually for travel candidates.
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of relevant employment within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years.
- Skills checklist updated annually as applicable.
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned LMS.
- Photo ID for badge (passport style with neutral background) may be required depending on facility.
Notes
- Candidates must be able to respond to on-call duties within 45 minutes.
- Floating to other Providence facilities within the region is mandatory.
- This position involves working with a diverse patient population, including pediatric and geriatric patients with complex GI diseases.
- The role requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work every other weekend.
