Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for all adult interventional radiology procedures including body, vascular, and neuro cases.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts of 10 hours each (7:30 AM to 6:00 PM).
- Call requirements:
- Weeknight call (Monday–Thursday, 6:00 PM to 7:30 AM) approximately 3-4 times during the contract.
- Weekend call (Friday 6:00 PM to Monday 7:30 AM) approximately 1-2 weekends during the contract.
- May be required to stay past scheduled shift once a week to complete procedures ("Backup").
- Expected to work every 5th or 6th Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM as needed.
- Average daily patient census: 8 patients per nurse.
- Duties include titrating drips, managing central lines, CT-guided procedures, and bone biopsies.
- Use of Philips monitors.
- Must be able to work independently in a procedural area where work may extend beyond scheduled hours.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Critical care experience including ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Emergency Department (ED), or procedural nursing background.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Certifications & Exams
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only, required for this unit.
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must pass with 80% or higher).
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course, NIH Stroke Certification) but are not specified as mandatory for this role.
Schedule & Shift Details
- Day shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:30 AM to 6:00 PM).
- Call shifts as described above.
- May work occasional Saturdays as needed.
Facility & Work Environment
- Short Term Acute Care facility with 1259 staffed beds.
- Teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma center.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- Scrub color: Navy.
- Parking: Monthly parking passes available; fees apply except for straight night shifts.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required.
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required.
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel, must be current throughout assignment.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year.
- Tdap vaccine or declination.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
- HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Facility-specific orientation modules (~16 hours) must be completed through the designated platform before starting.
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Professional references: Two required, preferably supervisors within the last year.
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start.
- Photo for badge: Head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months of start.
- Badge issuance required for all candidates.
